为什么今年尔湾的家政保姆越来越少?

现在,尔湾的家政保姆非常缺,尔湾的雇主难以找到满意的住家阿姨,不是客户选阿姨,而是阿姨选择客户,我家儿子换了三个住家阿姨,第一个阿姨在尔湾本地找的,阿姨工资比较高,后面两个联系北京的家政公司,他们帮忙找的美签阿姨,飞过来的,这两个阿姨都干了6个月。现在宝宝快3岁了,我家老人说自己带,就不用阿姨了。

Currently, there is a severe shortage of nannies and housekeepers in Irvine. Employers in Irvine are finding it difficult to find satisfactory live-in nannies.  It's not the employers choosing the nannies, but the nannies choosing the employers. My son has had three live-in nannies. The first nanny was hired locally in Irvine, and her salary was quite high. The next two were hired through a domestic service agency in Beijing; they were nannies with US visas who flew over. Both of these nannies worked for six months. Now my baby is almost 3 years old, and my parents say they will take care of him themselves, so we no longer need a nanny.

如今在家政行业里,年轻阿姨简直成了稀缺 “物种”,40 岁在这行都能算得上年轻生力军了。这到底是怎么回事呢?今天就给大家揭开这背后隐藏的门道,聊聊为啥家政行业留不住年轻人。

和不少年轻人深入交流后,我发现主要有两大原因。

其一、社会观念的 “紧箍咒” 依旧存在。过去两千多年封建思想的残余,导致很多人对家政从业者抱有偏见,觉得干家政就是伺候人,甚至部分从业者自己内心深处也这么认为。连自己都不认可这份工作,又怎么可能满怀热情地长期干下去呢?

Nowadays, young women working in the domestic service industry are a rare "species," with 40-year-olds considered young and energetic newcomers. What's going on? Today, we'll uncover the hidden reasons behind this phenomenon and discuss why the domestic service industry can't retain young people.

After in-depth conversations with many young people, I found two main reasons.

Firstly, the "shackles" of social perceptions still exist. The remnants of over two thousand years of feudal thought have led many people to hold prejudices against domestic service workers, believing that working in domestic service is simply serving others.  Even some workers themselves hold this belief deep down. If they don't even respect their own work, how can they possibly work with enthusiasm and dedication in the long term?

其二、工作时间毫无自由可言。咱们普通上班族,下班后就能尽情放松。可像月嫂、住家保姆这类家政工作,住在雇主家里,几乎全天 24 小时都得随时待命,准备为雇主服务。年轻人哪个不向往能自由支配自己的时间,这样的工作模式,他们实在难以接受。

其三、洛杉矶这边因为川普收紧移民政策,很多家政保姆来不了美国了,导致美国家政保姆工种人员紧缺。

其四、家政培训费用高,很多培训保姆的机构在网络教学,保姆没有实操,学不到能上手的专业技能,很多保姆没有保险等保障,工资跟白领相比不算高,但很熬人(工作时间很长)……

Secondly, there is absolutely no freedom in terms of working hours. Ordinary office workers can relax after get off work. However, domestic workers like nannies and live-in housekeepers live in their employers' homes and are practically on call 24 hours a day, ready to serve their employers at any time. Young people all yearn for the freedom to manage their own time, and they find this work model very difficult to accept.

Thirdly, due to Trump's stricter immigration policies, many domestic workers and nannies are unable to come to the United States, leading to a shortage of domestic workers in the US.

Fourthly, domestic worker training is expensive, and many training institutions conduct online classes.  Nannies lack practical experience and don't acquire hands-on professional skills. Many nannies lack insurance and other protections, and their salaries are not high compared to white-collar workers, but the work is very demanding (long working hours)...
